Annual Review for 2025

Responsibility – We are building a sustainable and secure future

We are a responsible Finnish family company with strong values that operates in a global environment and bears its social responsibility. A responsible approach enables the profitability and continuity of our business – we create a more responsible society through our solutions and services.

Reliable partner

We take responsibility into account in everything we do, and Insta’s work has a decisive impact on the operation of critical infrastructure and everyday life, as well as in how security of supply is ensured. Responsibility can be seen in manufacturing operations and software development as well as in expert services. Finding and building solutions in cooperation with our customers is one of our strengths.

Our Net Promoter Score in the customer satisfaction survey grew by six points and was excellent at 63 (57 in 2024). In the survey, we received commendable marks of 4.4 for our reliability as a supplier. In particular, we received praise for our smooth and easy collaboration, reliability, and high professional competence. Handling of the agreed responsibilities, the quality of our deliveries, and meeting our customers’ needs are at a very high level.

Responsibility reporting

We decided to voluntarily report on our responsibility, even though the requirements of the CSRD no longer apply to us. This allows us to make our work towards responsibility more visible to our stakeholders, from customers to partners.

Responsibility reporting and responsibility targets

We are prepared to report on our responsibility in the long term in accordance with the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Even though Insta was excluded from the directive’s scope during its update, we decided to voluntarily report on our responsibility.

In 2024, we launched group-wide responsibility targets for 2025–2030. During 2025, we implemented several actions that work toward these targets: as regards the environment, we reduced our carbon footprint by transitioning to renewable district heating in the Sarankulma campus from the start of July, and the calculation of our Scope 3 carbon footprint was advanced as part of a broader process to develop our purchasing.

We took a giant leap ahead in improving our occupational safety, as our lost time incident frequency (LTIF), which measures accidents leading to at least one day of absence, decreased substantially as the result of taking the correct actions and working with a long-term focus.

As regards the continuous improvement of the employee experience, the focus is on hearing from our employees in our annual job satisfaction survey and on other occasions, and on maintaining and promoting a strong culture. We support the competence development of our personnel and pay special attention to developing leadership and supervisor work. Training in the Code of Conduct for our own personnel was also expanded, and 99% of our personnel completed the training in 2025.

The table below lists the base level of 2023 for our responsibility targets, the progress during 2024 and 2025, and the target level for 2030. The actions taken to reduce our carbon footprint in 2025–2026 will only be fully visible in the carbon footprint for 2026.

Responsibility in the everyday lives of our customers

78% of the respondents in our customer satisfaction survey for 2025 felt that Insta has succeeded in helping them reach the responsibility targets of their own organizations either very well or well.

The solutions we provide for our customers reduce waste and minimize emissions. Alongside environmental benefits, we also increase cost-efficiency and optimize resource use. For our customers, our responsibility efforts mean more efficient, secure, and sustainable business.

Imatran Vesi renewed the process automation and instrumentation at Meltola wastewater treatment plant together with Insta. An automation system allows for improving the process control and monitoring, minimizing energy and chemical consumption, and comprehensively reporting on the operation of the plant.

Information security and cyber security are critically important to us and our customers. The EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is an example of cyber security related requirements that companies need to consider. The Act requires companies that offer digital products and software to ensure cyber security throughout the life cycle of the product, and Insta offers a broad range of cyber security services to meet the requirements in the CRA.

An example of a cyber security project implemented with a customer is Sandvik Mining’s project where Sandvik’s Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices were reinforced and harmonized with recognized cyber security standards. In addition to the certification, the information security of Sandvik’s products was reinforced, and their position as a front-runner in cyber secure product development was stabilized.

Occupational safety and well-being

Employees are Insta’s most significant asset, and, accordingly, employee well-being and the safety and security of the working environment are essential parts of our everyday operations and leadership. The high response rate (2025: 77%, 2024: 66%) to our job satisfaction survey provides good prerequisites for continuing the active development of a common culture together with the personnel.

Our areas for improvement for the prevention of occupational accidents within the industry business, in particular, were the development of proactive safety, boosting the efficiency of processing HSE notifications and learning from them, and reinforcing our accident investigations. Significant positive developments have been achieved in the reporting of safety walk-arounds, 15-minute safety meetings, and last-minute risk assessments.

Business continuity and social responsibility

A responsible approach enables the profitability and continuity of our business – we create a more responsible society through our solutions and services. Our solid financial performance is a prerequisite for the development of environmental and social responsibility.

We supported the Finnish Red Cross’s First Aid Team, which allows young people to learn life-saving skills. As more and more people can help in a critical situation, our environment becomes safer at the workplace, during our time off, and at sports arenas.

We donated funds that were allocated for Christmas greetings to charity, and we chose to once again sponsor Tampereen Lastenklinikan Tuki. Together with Kiilto, we made a donation of €10,000 to support the mental health of young people through the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare. In particular, we also supported local exercise and sports for children and young people.

In 2025, in accordance with our responsibility targets, we supported awareness of the Code of Conduct within our own personnel, and 99% of our personnel completed the training concerning the CoC. We have also engaged our suppliers to operate ethically.

Insta had no cases of corruption in 2025. However, the risk of corruption has been identified as international business grows, and it is proactively managed as part of good governance.

Tomorrow’s polycrises will be managed with cross-disciplinary solutions

"The earlier we identify an approaching crisis and act to mitigate it, the more room to maneuver we will have. A company that looks into the future can secure its business against future crises by tending to its sustainability and cyber security today and striving for green transition. "
