Starting in 2026, the first Finnish Air Force Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II multi-role fighters will arrive in Finland, and the first fighter was presented on 16th December 2026 in Texas.
The F-35 fighters will strengthen Finland’s defense capability and security of supply for decades to come. A total of 64 F-35 fighters will be delivered to Finland.

Close Cooperation with the Finnish Defence Forces
As a strategic partner of the Finnish Defence Forces, Insta supports the building of the Defence Forces’ capabilities throughout the life-cycle of the systems. So far, Insta has been responsible for the maintenance of the avionics systems on the Hornet fighter jets. As a long-term partner, Insta’s cooperation with the Defence Forces will continue for decades into the F-35 era.
Insta will be responsible for providing maintenance and life cycle services for the avionics systems of the F-35. In addition to maintaining the avionics systems, Insta also integrates the F-35’s systems into the Finnish command and control systems together with the Defence Forces. Strong Finnish expertise in critical technologies ensures the security of supply.
Additionally, through the F-35 program, Insta is also part of a Finnish industrial consortium that delivers advanced space technology and analytics to the program.
International Partnerships
As a provider of F-35 fighter avionics maintenance services and systems integrator, Insta is part of Lockheed Martin’s global maintenance network.
Technology cooperation with Lockheed Martin has been ongoing since 2023, when Insta and Lockheed Martin agreed to develop a next-generation data transfer and filtering solution. Developed in collaboration, high-performance data transfer and filtering solution (CDS, Cross Domain Solution), Insta DomainLink Secret™, was launched in autumn 2025. The modern developed solution enables secure and real-time data exchange between different systems and networks, supporting multi-domain operations and rapid decision-making. The solution is designed especially for complex military networks using NATO standards, improving situational awareness and the ability to achieve high joint operational capability.
