Insta is increasing the role of its business areas and appointing Niklas Mattsson as the President and CEO for Insta Group

The technology company Insta Group is reinforcing its leadership model, which features two business areas.

Insta

The current leaders of these business areas, Petri Reiman (Insta Advance) and Aleksi Salmirinne (Insta Industry), will be appointed as the CEOs of their own business areas as of March 1. The new leadership model allows for faster, more business-oriented decision-making, which serves both Insta’s customers and the Group’s growth.

Insta has two competitively strong business areas. Insta Advance focuses on the defence, software consulting, and cyber security businesses. Insta Industry’s expertise lies in electrical automation for the industry.

– Both Insta Industry and Insta Advance have exhibited very strong growth. Preliminary figures indicate that the Group’s net sales reached nearly EUR 200 million in 2025. For us, this was the 15th consecutive year of growth. Now is a good time to further increase the role of these business areas and introduce an even more direct connection to the Board of Directors, says Markus Mattsson, the Chair of Insta’s Board of Directors.

Niklas Mattsson to become the new President and CEO for Insta Group as of 1 June

As part of the change, Insta Group will receive a new President and CEO as of June 1, as Niklas Mattsson, Insta’s Vice Chairman of Board, will reassume the President and CEO position at Insta Group.

Tapio Kolunsarka, the current President and CEO, has notified the Board that he will be stepping down from his position and will be increasingly focusing on his board positions and personal life going forward.

– The decision made two years ago, during Tapio’s tenure as President and CEO, to build two more independent business areas has turned out to be the right choice. I wish to thank Tapio for his brief but successful period at Insta, says Markus Mattsson.

Eyes boldly fixed on the future

Over the years, Insta has transformed from a small company specializing in automation installation to a group of more than 1,300 employees that is rapidly internationalizing and developing and utilizing state-of-the-art technology.

We have a very strong team and firm faith in the future. Personified ownership has always been important for us. Our success has always been – and will continue to be – based on the Insta team’s competence, courage, and commitment. Making this possible will be the decisive task in my role as President and CEO for the entire Group

, says Niklas Mattsson, future President and CEO for Insta.

– We are continuously recruiting new people to become part of our high-performance teams. Even though competition for experts in the technology field has continued, we recruited more than 230 experts in total during last year, and it seems that we will continue to keep the pace.

Insta Industry – Experience guarantees decisive efficiency

As a life cycle partner for electrical automation and digitalization, Insta Industry improves the productivity, operational reliability, and responsibility of its customers. In 2024, Industry’s net sales amounted to EUR 101.2 million, which accounted for approximately 57% of the entire Group’s net sales.

Aleksi Salmirinne, who has been appointed as the new CEO of Insta Industry, has been the leader of the Industry business area and a member of the Group’s management team since August 2024. Salmirinne has also worked at Valmet and Metso, leading Valmet’s Energy business, for example.

Insta Advance – Frontrunner in critical technology

Insta Advance is a reliable expert in defence, secure software development, digitalization, and cyber security. Advance’s combined net sales in 2024 amounted to EUR 75.0 million. The business area accounted for 43% of the entire Group’s net sales.

Petri Reiman, the new CEO for Insta Advance, has more than 20 years of leadership experience in business environments in the field of technology. Currently, he is the Vice President for Insta Advance. He has been with Insta since 2016 and is also a member of the Group’s management team. He has a strong role especially as regards technology and cooperation projects, such as defence sector development projects.
