2025 was a year of strong growth and records for the technology company Insta. Net sales of the diversified Finnish family company grew by 12%, and we reached record net sales of EUR 197.8 million. Despite the increased competition for technology experts, we hired a total of 230 new Insta team members during the year.
" Our business operations developed strongly in the past year. We reinforced our regional presence in Finland and deepened our international partnerships. We focused on network security products for cyber security and developed modern drone systems. We reached a new record of EUR 219 million in received orders, and our order backlog at the end of the year was at a record level of EUR 144 million", says Tapio Kolunsarka, CEO for Insta.
Rapidly growing business areas
The Group has two business areas that are rapidly developing in terms of their competitiveness. Insta Industry operates in the electrification, automation, and digitalization of industry. Insta Advance includes the defence, software consulting, and cyber security businesses. During the spring of 2026, we will transition to a streamlined model of leadership, where the Industry and Advance business areas are more independent than before and report directly to the Insta Group’s Board of Directors.
– Demand in the industrial automation and electrification solutions is at a good level, and, with the completed business acquisitions, the rapid growth in net sales is expected to continue. Demand and interest in our defence solutions continues to grow; however, due to the long preparation times for projects, this will only be seen in our order backlog with a delay. Within cyber security, demand for our services continues to grow, and the new product launches ensure that our outlook for the future is very interesting. Our position as the fully Finnish operator within cyber security is an increasingly important differentiator, Kolunsarka says.
Excellent starting points for the coming year
In 2025, we celebrated our company’s 65th anniversary. Insta has transformed from a small company specializing in automation installation to a group of more than 1,300 employees that is rapidly internationalizing and developing and utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
– We have excellent starting points for 2026. Our customer and personnel satisfaction are at a top level, for which we are very proud and grateful. We expect our net sales to grow substantially and profitability to improve, driven by a record-high order backlog and the good market situation. Our very strong balance sheet makes new development projects and acquisitions possible, Kolunsarka summarizes.
Reliable, competent, and motivated personnel who feel good working for us are at the core of Insta’s activities. In 2025, the number of occupational accidents decreased substantially as the result of taking the correct actions and working with a long-term focus. The eNPS index, which describes the commitment of our personnel, reached a new record (eNPS 39).
– Even this year, we expect to require more than 150 new colleagues to facilitate our growth.
Reliable, diversified expertise
The Industry business area continued to experience strong growth. Profitability was affected by the investments made toward business development and the reduced level of investments seen in the steel and forestry industry. Net sales amounted to EUR 116.3 million, an increase of 14.9% when compared to the previous year. It accounted for approximately 59% of the entire Group’s net sales.
The business area’s strategic emphasis is on reinforcing regional presence and the service business. Security, the green transition, electrical distribution services, technology products, and digitalization are at the core of the growth.
Front-runner in critical technology
Sales and net sales for the Advance business grew strongly during 2025. The total net sales from the defence technology, cyber security, and software development businesses amounted to €81.5 M. The business area accounted for 41% of the entire Group’s net sales. The business area’s profitability improved over the previous year.
The growth strategy was advanced by focusing on network security products for cyber security, exporting AirC2 air defence systems, and developing drone systems. Our diversified capabilities to integrate will reinforce our position as a strategic partner to the Finnish Defence Forces.
Insta’s cyber security business experienced strong development. By net sales, the growth amounted to 10% year-on-year. We signed several significant agreements covering multiple years.
In software consulting, focusing on developing data capabilities and the opportunities for utilizing data allows us to meet our customers’ needs in an even more versatile manner.
