Insta has been selected to deliver the power distribution contract as part of Kokkolan Energia’s investment project, which focuses on the electrification of heat production and thermal energy storage in the Kokkola Industrial Park. The project responds to the region’s growing demand for heat and enables more flexible and lower-emission heat production.
Kokkolan Energia is making a significant investment in the electrification of heat production at the Kokkola Industrial Park. Two new 60 MW electric steam boilers will be built at the power plants and connected to the existing steam processes. The steam produced by the boilers will be utilized both in district heating production and as process steam for industrial customers in the area.
Insta will be responsible for the power distribution scope of the electric boilers on a turnkey basis. The delivery includes engineering, medium-voltage switchgear and cabling, process transformers, the auxiliary power system, as well as the installation, commissioning, and testing of equipment and cables. Insta will carry out the project entirely with its own resources, from design to commissioning.
Overall, the construction phase of the project will take approximately two years, with commissioning of the plants scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
