Insta to deliver process control system for Finnish nuclear developer Steady Energy’s pilot plant

AutomationTurn-key deliveries

Insta will deliver the process control system for the Finnish nuclear developer Steady Energy’s pilot plant. The project enables developing new type of energy solution and supports the use of plant data for development purposes.

A Finnish technology company Steady Energy is developing the world’s first urban small-scale nuclear heating plant designed to produce low-emission heat reliably and cost-efficiently, regardless of weather conditions. The pilot project provides a unique opportunity to develop and validate next-generation energy solutions.

Small nuclear heating brings new solutions to district heating

The pilot plant will be built at the site of the former Salmisaari coal-fired power plant in downtown Helsinki. The technology is based on a concept developed at the Technical Research Center of Finland VTT. Steady Energy is responsible for the further development and commercialization of the technology.

Small nuclear heating plants represent a new generation of energy solutions where nuclear energy is used to produce district heat without electricity generation. They are designed to provide stable, low-emission heat close to end users.
